Winter is on its way... Well we have had the first frosts, snow and spawinging runs...Guess what that means...? It's time to bundle up and head out into the cold to try your luck with those ever famous spawing runs... Well we will guess the you have dug out the glo bug box and and have made sure that it is in your vest for the winter...but have you taken our your bright colored and large streamers...? Lots of anglers may think you are crazy, but if they get results, that is what you are looking for... While trout spawn, they are like any other animal and will protect their nests (or beds) for a period of time...this is when those really leggy, shaggy large streamers work...A trout sees something that is a threat to their bed and they react with aggression to chase it off, but SUPRISE it has a hook attached to it and you are in... Swinging "Big Uglies" as we like to call them is alot of fun and you can even fish water that no one else can...Ever showed up to the river and it looked like chocolate milk...? This is not always appealing to anglers, but the fish have to hide somewhere and they tend to hug the banks, this is where swinging something large and black, purple, blue, pink or anything that has color and movement is beneficial...give it a try and you will be suprised, plus you will have most of the river to yourself... Here are a couple flies that we use during those times... | Bunny Leach Black or PurpleSize 2 and 4 | | Dark RabbitsSize 2 and 4 | | Slump Buster | | | | | | |
